On August 24, Rolling Stone published an expose on Gary King<\/a><\/strong>, known for his time on Below Deck Sailing Yacht<\/a>. The report featured a testimonial from hair and makeup’s Samantha Suarez who accused Gary of sexual misconduct<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The allegations ranged from trying to coerce Suarez into bed to pressing himself against her in his underwear. Bravo released a statement<\/a> claiming that Suarez\u2019s claims had been investigated at the time. But the statement left a great deal to be desired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s more, others linked to Below Deck anonymously corroborated Suarez\u2019s claims, saying that Gary was \u201cscary with women.\u201d Well, Gary wasn\u2019t ready to take it all lying down. Of course, he didn\u2019t leave his thoughts in the open for very long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gary\u2019s insensitive response to the allegations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On August 24, Gary brazenly took to his Instagram comment section to address commenters who had read Rolling Stone\u2019s expose earlier that day. The comments are now deleted, but Us Weekly<\/a> managed to collect a record of them. \u201cIt\u2019s so weird, it\u2019s also so far from the truth,\u201d he wrote. \u201cShe always wanted a platform and unfortunately I\u2019m the unlucky target.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gary claimed dishonesty on Suarez\u2019s part. \u201cI\u2019m not going to let some lying girl get to me \u2026 read that article fully, multiple times, and this happened to her on multiple seasons \u2026 seems odd.\u201d Gary liked several supportive messages from fans and responded to some. He demanded evidence from detractors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPlease tell me who I\u2019ve harassed from [Below Deck<\/a>],\u201d he challenged. \u201cIf I did I\u2019m sure they would have said something and not some random person.\u201d He further demanded, \u201cPlease can you tell me where I have sexually harassed multiple women \u2026 you\u2019re watching the wrong show pal.\u201d It\u2019s no wonder why Gary deleted these comments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It goes without saying, but just because Gary hasn\u2019t harassed other women on camera doesn\u2019t mean he couldn’t have harassed and assaulted Suarez. And as a disclaimer, nothing has been proven yet. But during this time, we must take victims seriously until their claims can be verified. Victim-blaming is not a good look on anyone’s part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
